Whats the benefits of fertilising grazing grassland?

Fertilising can seem expensive. Trust me, we order a lot of it and know the bill at the end. But what are the benefits.

So fertiliser is a mix of nutrients. Generally made of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P) and Potassium (K).

Lets start with Nitrogen. Nitrogen is essentially the element which makes the grass grow and a dark green colour.

Phosphorous and Potassium are essential for plant health, root health and root development. These elements can come from either farm yard muck, or essentially the animals poop which rots down, or artifically which come in a compound fertiliser.

Sulphur is also added to fertiliser compounds as it aids the plant to uptake the maximum amount of nitrogen which is being applied.

Now we apply all different types of fertiliser, dependant on what your ground needs, but most of the time is will be a grassland compound fertiliser. Applied through our 24m twin disk fertiliser spreader on our Compact Tractors which and Auto Steer guided with accuaracy to 2.5cm.

Want to know more about how your soils health is and how its performing? We can carry out a soil test to make sure you PH is at the optimum level and ensure we are only adding what is needed.
